The water broke around 5 in the morning and when the contractions hadn’t begun around 6.30 I asked the midwife if I could go to work. She looked at me like I was crazy and asked me if I was serious. I was dead serious. Then she asked me if I did computer work at home and I said no, I have to go to the wood-workshop. Her jaw dropped, then she laughed a little but gave me a firm NO. So, that’s for all you out there that are thinking of  going full-time into your own business…a gentle reminder that it will become more or less your whole existence. We had a deadline to meet and I hadn’t planned for the little to come into the world until about 2 days later. Yup, every extra minute of the day you can spend at work is crucial when you have your own business.

But this little one was not about to listen to us, headstrong from the very beginning. The contractions had become pretty severe and painful around noon but we decided to wait a bit and grab a bite to eat before going to the hospital. Once we had finished our meal we had planned to go home but as we arrived at the front door we quickly realised we wouldn’t manage to get inside. We rushed off to the hospital and the little one was born within the hour from our arrival there.  The birth was natural and without complications.

He came out super strong and gave out the loudest roar, heavily applauded by the midwives.  He was immediately placed on my chest where our little viking lifted his head and looked at his parents within minutes of his birth.

Welcome to this world little one!

And now that we are severely sleep deprived parents again, we’d like to introduce you to a concept that we are eager to try out – the Lulla doll. Sprung from the imagination and thorough research of fellow Icelander and friend the Lulla doll is designed to make children feel safe while sleeping, allowing them to sleep better and longer at a time.

“The Lulla doll imitates closeness of a caregiver at rest with its soothing sounds of real heartbeat & breathing and soft touch. Lulla’s unique design is based on scientific research that shows how closeness improves sleep, wellbeing and safety. The aim of Lulla Doll is to help babies: Sleep longer, feel better, be safer” www.roro.is

This beautiful little doll, is finally getting a chance to come to life and we can help! They have just launched a crowd funding over at Indiegogo in order to raise money for the manufacture of the first 5000 dolls. These are super exciting times and we have already secured ourselves a a set of twin dolls; one for the little one and another one for the toddler. If you have small children, know anyone who does or just get the heart of gold that’s behind this, we’d like to encourage you to contribute and help them make this dream come true.

We are crossing our fingers to get our Lulla dolls and a shot at a good nights sleep again…;)
